O’Connell Electric Company partnered with AVANGRID Renewables to deliver the Roaring Brook Wind Farm, an ambitious renewable energy project that underscores our leadership in utility-scale wind infrastructure. Spanning over 5,280 acres of private land in Lewis County, the project features the construction and operation of thirty-nine 2 MW wind turbines, contributing a total capacity of 78 MW to New York’s clean energy future.
Our scope of work included the installation of approximately 70,000 circuit feet of underground 35kV collection lines, seven miles of 35kV double circuit overhead collection, and a new substation interconnecting to National Grid’s Chases Lake system via the existing Maple Ridge Point of Interconnect. We also deployed a complete fiber optic backbone throughout the wind park to support SCADA and communications systems.
O’Connell Electric’s commitment to quality was evident throughout the project, guided by a rigorous quality assurance plan and a team of highly trained professionals. Our work on Roaring Brook exemplifies our ability to deliver complex, high-impact renewable energy solutions that benefit both our clients and the communities they serve.
