One of our most impactful public sector projects is the comprehensive renovation of the New York State Legislative Hearing Rooms, located in the Legislative Office Building at the north end of Albany’s Empire State Plaza.
This $5.2 million renovation project modernized three heavily utilized hearing rooms that serve the New York State Senate, Assembly, and other state agencies throughout the year. Originally constructed in the early 1970s, these rooms had not seen a major upgrade in over three decades.
Our team delivered a full suite of electrical and communications services, with a strong focus on transparency and accessibility. Key enhancements included the integration of advanced audiovisual systems that enable digital projection on large-format monitors, improved television and radio transmission capabilities, and compliance with updated federal and state mandates.
With a combined seating capacity of 900, these hearing rooms now offer a more inclusive and technologically advanced environment for public discourse and legislative proceedings. O’Connell Electric is honored to have played a role in revitalizing this vital civic space.
